Summer Melon Margarita Mocktail
There’s this one specific kind of summer afternoon I love. You probably know the one – slow and warm, nothing urgent, maybe you’re outside with people you like.

This is the drink for that afternoon. Melon and lime and sparkling water and a salty rim if you’re feeling it.
It started as something I threw together because I had half a melon sitting in my fridge, and now it’s kind of become my thing. Simple ingredients, ten minutes, and it tastes like summer actually showed up.
Ingredients

Just a few simple things is all you need here. Fresh melon is really the main event so get one that smells sweet and feels heavy. It seriously makes the whole drink better.
- 2 cups of fresh melon, diced and seeded
- 1/2 cup of lime juice (freshly squeezed – the bottled kind just doesn’t hit the same)
- 1 tablespoon of agave syrup or honey, adjusted to taste
- 1/2 cup of sparkling water or your soda of choice
- Lime wedges and melon slices for garnish
- Salt for rimming the glass (optional but so good!)
- Ice cubes
How to Do It
Prep Your Glass
If you want that salty rim – and trust me you do – grab a lime wedge and drag it around the top edge of your glass. Dip the rim into a little plate of salt after that. Set it to the side while you pull the drink together.
Blend the Melon

Throw your melon chunks into the blender and let it run until smooth. You can strain it through a fine mesh sieve if you want it silky and pulp-free. Honestly I skip that part most of the time and it’s still really good.
Mix It All Together

The puree goes into a shaker or pitcher first. Add the lime juice and your agave syrup or honey and stir it all up. Taste it here and see if you want more sweetness or more tartness – you can totally adjust.
Add the Fizz
Pour in your sparkling water nice and slow so you keep the bubbles. Plain sparkling water is my go-to because it lets the melon really shine through. A lemon-lime soda works too if you like it a little sweeter.
Fill Your Glass

Ice goes in first, then pour the melon mixture right over it. If you strained your puree earlier it’s going to look really gorgeous at this point – just saying.
Garnish and Serve

A lime wedge on the rim and a little melon slice on the side and you’re done. It takes ten seconds and makes it look like you really tried. Sip it slow and enjoy the summer!

FAQ
Can I use any type of melon? Watermelon works amazingly well here and is my personal favorite. Honeydew and cantaloupe are both great options too. Just make sure whatever melon you pick is ripe and sweet because that’s where all the flavor comes from.
Can I make this ahead of time? You can blend and mix everything ahead of time and keep it in the fridge. Just wait to add the sparkling water until right before you serve it so it stays fizzy.
What soda works best if I don’t want plain sparkling water? Lemon-lime soda is a really popular choice and adds a little extra sweetness. Ginger ale is another good one if you want a tiny bit of spice in there.
Can I make a big batch for a party? Yes absolutely! Just multiply everything by however many servings you need and mix it all in a big pitcher. Again hold off on the sparkling water until serving time.
What if I don’t have a blender? A food processor works fine here. You could also mash the melon really well by hand but the texture will be a bit chunkier – still tasty though!
Is this drink kid friendly? 100% yes! There’s no alcohol in it at all so it’s totally safe for kids. It’s actually a really fun drink to make with them too.
