Watermelon Slushie

Sharing is caring!

I bought a huge watermelon last week (it’s super hot outside as I am writing this and watermelon is one of those things you just have to have in hot weater). Been eating it every day. Then yesterday it was so hot I couldn’t deal anymore, and I had an idea. I just threw some watermelon in the blender with ice and honey. and guess what, this turned out to be the most refreshing, coolinbg and delicious slushie I have ever had!

It’s really not complicated – you need like four things total, plus a blender to do all the work for you. It’s not only amazing for when you’re dying from the heat but also, since it’s so pretty to look at, it’s a great fun drink to serve at parties (or even Valentine’s day, if you’re doing pink colored food and drink). Also good for using up watermelon before it goes bad in your fridge!

Ingredients

  • 4 cups watermelon, cut into cubes with the seeds taken out
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • Mint leaves for making it look nice

How to Do It

Step 1: Blend the Watermelon

Your watermelon cubes go in the blender first. Turn it on and blend until smooth. No chunks should be left. Usually takes like 30 seconds maybe.

Make sure all the seeds are out! Seeds in a slushie are the worst.

Step 2: Add Ice and Honey

Ice cubes go in now. The honey too. Blend it all up until everything is mixed together and slushy. It should be thick not watery.

Step 3: Check the Sweetness

Taste it to see if it’s sweet enough. Watermelons are different – some are really sweet and some aren’t. Add more honey if you need to and blend again.

Step 4: Pour and Garnish

Pour it in glasses now. Put mint leaves on top. Makes it look nice and the mint smells really good!

Step 5: Drink It Right Away

You have to drink this right now! It melts super fast so don’t wait around. Just enjoy it while it’s cold.
