Valentine’s Day Pretzels

These Valentine’s Day pretzels are so easy it almost feels like cheating. Seriously! You just dip pretzels in melted candy and add sprinkles. That’s the whole recipe. Takes like 10 minutes of work and then you wait for them to harden in the fridge.

I started making these a few years ago when I needed something quick to bring to a Valentine’s party. They were such a hit! Sweet and salty together is always amazing. Plus they look super festive with all the pink and red colors. Kids absolutely love these, my niece asks for them every year now.

The best part is you can make a huge batch really fast. Perfect for class parties, coworkers, or just having around the house during February! They keep for like a week in a container so you can make them ahead too.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz bag of Pretzels – Any pretzels work for this! I usually use the regular twisted ones because they’re classic. Mini pretzels are cute too though, or those pretzel rods if you want something fancier looking. Just whatever you have or whatever’s on sale honestly.
  • 3 oz pink candy melts – These are in the baking aisle at most stores. Wilton makes them and they’re pretty easy to find! The pink ones are so perfect for Valentine’s Day. You could skip this color if you want and just use more red and white, totally up to you.
  • 3 oz red candy melts – Red is a must for Valentine’s Day obviously. Same brand as the pink, just a different color! They melt the same way and taste pretty much identical.
  • 3 oz white candy melts – White candy melts are my favorite because they look so clean and pretty. You can also use these as a base and drizzle the other colors on top! Gets creative with it.
  • Sprinkles (of your choice) – This is where you can have fun. Heart sprinkles are adorable! Red and pink nonpareils, those little conversation hearts, whatever looks cute to you. I usually buy a Valentine’s sprinkle mix that has a bunch of different shapes and colors in it.

How to do it

1. Melt the candy melts: Put each color of candy melts in separate microwave-safe bowls. Microwave them in 20 second bursts! Stir after each time. Keep doing this until they’re completely melted and smooth. Don’t try to do it all at once or they’ll burn and get all gross and clumpy.

2. Dip and decorate: Now comes the fun part. Take a pretzel and dip it into whichever color you want! You can do a full dip or just dip half of it. Shake off the extra candy so it’s not too thick. Then add your sprinkles right away while it’s still wet! The sprinkles won’t stick once the candy dries so you gotta be quick. Do this with all your pretzels until you run out of candy or pretzels or both.

3. Chill them: Put all your decorated pretzels on a baking sheet or plate. Stick the whole thing in the fridge for about 30 minutes! That’s how long it takes for the candy coating to get hard. Once they’re solid you can take them out and eat them or store them in a container. They last about a week at room temperature if you can resist eating them all!
